Number of patients waiting for an autism or ADHD assessment at all time high

Updated: Apr 26

People in the UK currently face long wait times to be assessed for autism or ADHD.

It is estimated there may be around 1.2 million autistic people and 2.2 million people with ADHD in the UK. Since Covid, demand for diagnosis has increased by over 300%. This means children and adults are waiting months and even years for help, a report has revealed.

A "radical rethink" of care, education, society and the NHS has been called for, not long after a review of ADHD services was announced by the NHS as well as a major supply shortage of prescribed ADHD medication in September.
