Healthwatch Senior Engagement Officer – 18.5 hours per week

Location: Portsmouth – office based

Salary: £25,000 – £27,500 per annum (pro rata), starting salary £25,264 (pro rata)

Healthwatch Portsmouth are looking for a permanent Senior Engagement Officer to join our team. You will be responsible for leading the feedback gathering activities to ensure that people’s views and experiences are captured and listened to. You will help to ensure these views are taken account of by decision makers in Portsmouth.  You will develop and lead the engagement activities with a wide range of communities in the city including those seldom heard or marginalised. You will attend meetings with a wide range of stakeholders in the health and social care sector, deputising occasionally for the Healthwatch Portsmouth Manager at some of the engagement events. You will work as part of the team and support and guide the Digital and Engagement Officer to identify opportunities for engaging with local people to gather feedback and provide relevant information. You will take the lead with the registration of and regular communication with our local volunteers.

This is a demanding role and therefore a high standard of communication skills is needed. The ability to input data quickly and accurately is essential as is the ability to remain calm and composed under pressure whilst also maintaining stakeholder confidentiality.

A friendly, helpful individual, you will go that extra mile to ensure our stakeholders are always happy with the service provided. You will need to be a strong team player who can take the lead at times and is flexible and willing to learn new processes. A clear communicator with the ability to deal with very complex issues in a dignified and sensitive manner is essential.

The Healthwatch Portsmouth service contract is held by The Advocacy People.  The Advocacy People believe in a society where people feel in control of their lives and are confident to speak up; and if, for whatever reason, they can’t speak up for themselves, we want them to have someone in their corner to speak for them.    The Advocacy People provide free, independent support across the south of England to help people access accurate information, understand their rights, make informed choices and take action when faced with decisions about their health, social care and wellbeing.

This position is subject to a standard DBS and Eligibility to Work checks.
