Merger of Sunnyside and Lake Road GP Surgeries

Healthwatch Portsmouth has received confirmation from Portsmouth CCG that a decision was taken on the 8th June by Portsmouth Clinical Commissioning Group to approve the merger application from Sunnyside and Lake Road GP surgeries. The merger will take place on 11th October 2022, which  should reduce the operational pressures that both surgeries have been facing. The merged practice will be called’ Island City Practice’.  Each GP Surgery website will have the initial information,  and a letter to all patients (which will contain the feedback and comments gathered from initial meetings with patients) will be circulated as soon as possible.

Healthwatch Portsmouth discuss Dentistry crisis with Stephen Morgan MP

On  Monday June 6th, Healthwatch Portsmouth Manager and Chairperson, Siobhain McCurrach and Roger Battersby met with Stephen Morgan MP to discuss the dentistry crisis in Portsmouth. Healthwatch Portsmouth is attending a dental summit being organised by Penny Mordaunt MP on Friday 10th June at Portsmouth Dental Academy to escalate our concerns and hopefully achieve immediate additional NHS dental appointments for the city.

Uni-City Medical Centre

Uni- City Medical Centre is the new GP service which has recently moved from  the Nuffield Centre, Portsmouth, to its new purpose-built city centre home in Commercial Road. The surgery opened it's doors to current and new patients, and are hoping to utilise the new expanded space to  employ more clinical staff, which will then be able to provide more appointments for patients. The surgery will offer both face to face and virtual appointments to cater for the needs of everyone, and the surgery in its new location will be looking to take on new patients if difficulties have been experienced in registering elsewhere. Anti-trafficking charities launch a new website aimed at keeping Ukrainian refugees safe and stopping exploitation.
