Down Syndrome Act receives Royal Assent

Healthwatch Portsmouth has just been contacted by Portsmouth Down Syndrome Association to say that : Royal Assent has taken place on the Down Syndrome Act! This is a momentous occasion and a world first as England becomes the first country in the world to recognise those with Down Syndrome under law. New Covid treatment available for compromised immune systems

A new drug called Evusheld can protect Cancer patients and others with compromised immune systems for up to six months. The drug will be offered to adults who are unable to have the current Covid vaccines. The group will consist of adults who are being treated for cancer; who have had a transplant and are taking immune suppressing drugs to prevent rejection of the transplant; or who are taking immune-suppressing treatments for other diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and multiple sclerosis. HWP have received this notice from Solent NHS Trust Re-introduction of visitor parking charges at St Mary’s Community Health Campus Visitor parking charges will be reintroduced at St Mary’s Community Health Campus, in Milton, from Monday 25 April 2022. In line with government guidance, they were suspended at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Thanks to patient and visitor feedback and following a review of parking on the site, our car parks have been made safer and improved. Access to NHS urgent dental care : extra sessions in Alton

17th May 2022 update We have just heard that Alton Dental (Anstey Road practice) has additional sessions to treat patients who need urgent dental care.  Appts are available on Tuesdays 6pm - 7.30pm and Saturdays 10am - 1.30pm.  Phone  01420 83589 to make an appointment for urgent care.
