Project Choice team to host second information session on internship programme for young adults with learning disabilities

The Project Choice Portsmouth team are hosting a second virtual information session for the supported internship programme for young adults, aged 16-24, with learning disabilities, difficulties and/or Autism. As part of a partnership between Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust (PHU) and Project Choice, run by Health Education England, a cohort of 12 students will start their internships in September this year. The internships will take place across a wide range of departments at Queen Alexandra Hospital (QA) including pathology, the discharge lounge, housekeeping, catering, portering, library services and medical records. Southsea Medical Centre – Alert

Healthwatch Portsmouth has been alerted to a problem that telephone callers to the Southsea Medical Centre asking for a GP consultation, have experienced very recently. An automated call answering system suggests that you make an e-consultation on Southsea Medical Centre’s website.   The webpage that appears on Southsea Medical Centre’s website that the telephone answering system directs you to, is not owned by Southsea Medical Centre. Instead it is a USA based private medical e-consultation company’s website page called ‘just answer uk doctor’. This  tries to get you to subscribe to the company’s monthly payment plan. Learning Disability Week 2021

This Learning Disability Week, Healthwatch Portsmouth are proud to be raising awareness of a Portsmouth-based social enterprise, that enables, supports and trains young people with learning disabilities into sustainable pathways of employment. New dental surgery – 2, Hanway Road, now open

June '21 update - Hanway Rd NHS dentist open, extra interim capacity at London Rd being offered Healthwatch Portsmouth have just heard today that the Smile Dental Care practice at 2, Hanway Road, Portsmouth PO1 4ND which  was due to open on 1st April 2021 has been open since 1st June and is able to offer up to 21,500 'units of dental activity' a year.    Delays in opening were due to problems the practice faced in delays to access a Care Quality Commission inspection  visit and sign-off due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.  Patients wishing to join a dental practice in Portsmouth can contact the practice on [...]

COVID-19: Vaccinations extended to people over 25

People aged 25 to 29 in England will be able to book their coronavirus vaccination from tomorrow morning.
