On Wednesday 14 November 2018 the Good Mental Health Co-Operative will be hosting a drop in cafe on the third floor of Portsmouth Central Library, Guildhall Walk, Portsmouth PO1 2DX. The Drop-In Cafe welcomes everyone! You may be feeling anxious, stressed or socially isolated, or you may be worried about a friend or a family member, or you may just be interested to know more about good mental health and wellbeing and the availability of local resources. This Saturday, 3 November 2018, Remind are running a men carers group at 10am at the Wellness Centre on Palmerston Road in Southsea. The group is for all men who care for a family member or friend who has dementia. Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust, which is responsible for running the Queen Alexandra Hospital, is holding a public meeting on Monday 29 October 2018 at 3:30pm at the Royal Maritime Club, Queens Street, Portsmouth PO1 3HS. Talking Change are running an introducing mindfulness workshop at St James Hospital in Milton on Wednesday 14 November 2018, 10-11:30am. The workshop is provided free and would ideally suit someone with an interest in learning about mindfulness or wishing to develop their existing practice. We have received information from Portsmouth Hospitals Trust that spinal services will transfer from Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth to University Hospital in Southampton from the beginning of November 2018. It is anticipated that around 180 people, currently receiving care at QA from the Portsmouth area, will be affected. Ofsted have published the results of an inspection of Portsmouth City Council's Children's Services department and have rated the service as Good. The inspection was carried out in September 2018, the results are an improvement on the last inspection, carried out in 2014, when the service was rated as "requires improvement." Inspectors praised the service saying "Despite increasing demand, leaders have made good progress in establishing a resilient and sustainable service. The service that children and families receive is now good overall." Healthwatch Portsmouth Board meeting hears about future of GP services and St James and St Marys sites
On Wednesday at our Board meeting we heard from Dr Linda Collie, Chief Clinical Officer at Portsmouth Clinical Commissioning Group, which is responsible for GP services in the city. She set out the CCG's plans for the future of Doctor services in Portsmouth and integration with new initiatives such as the extended hours services at Lake Road surgery, the acute visiting service and the out of hours service which are now open to all patients across Portsmouth. On Thursday 25 Oct0ber 2018 the Good Mental Health Cooperative will hold its Annual General Meeting, starting at 7:30pm at the John Pounds Centre, Queens Street, Portsmouth PO1 3HN . Join them for refreshments from 7pm.At the Annual General Meeting the annual report will be presented, together with the financial report. There will also be a presentation on future plans for funding and service developments.
