Further to the problems that people have reported recently on access to the rear of St James’ Hospital we have received the following notice via Solent NHS that NHS Property Services issued last week:

Access to St. James Hospital site

There have been a series of significant attempts to remove lead from buildings on the St. James site in recent days.

The Police have advised NHS Property Services that to make the buildings secure and the site safe for colleagues, it is necessary to secure access to the site. Temporary Harris fencing is now in place on site and a manned gate at the main entrance is now in operation, between 6am and 8pm.

The pedestrian access at the rear is available between 6am and 8pm.

We would advise colleagues and all visitors accessing The Limes, The Orchards and Falcon House to access the site via Orchards Drive but to be aware of potholes; these will be filled shortly.

The situation will be monitored over the coming days and will be reviewed.  If you have any concerns, please email Access@solent.nhs.uk

Please also be aware that Portsmouth City Council will be carrying out traffic calming works along Locksway Road from 20 January, for two weeks.
