Lots of us help out our neighbours when we're needed, or have a friend living nearby that pops in for a chat and a cup of tea. For those that don't have neighbours or friends nearby that can help, the Good Neighbours service extends the same neighbourly support. The service is a small group of local volunteers, who help anyone in the Purbrook, Waterlooville, Crookhorn and Cowplain area, who need help with things like:
- Transport to medical appointments (where all other transport options are not available/suitable)
- Social visits
- Practical help, such as hanging curtains, changing a lightbulb or small bits of DIY and repairs.
- Collecting and returning library books
- Light gardening
- A limited sitting service, to relieve a carer for a short while.
Good Neighbours don't do things that would normally be done by a professional, or provide support where there are other services available - such as regular gardening or cleaning, medical or personal care.
