Healthwatch Portsmouth has published its annual report for the year 2018-2019. Last year we heard from 530 people who visited our stalls and told us about their experience of a number of different areas of health and social care. Local people told us that they wanted local health services to communicate better between services to prevent unnecessary appointments being made for treatment. eHighlights 530 people shared their health and social care story with us, 45% more than last year 18 volunteers helped us to to carry out our work. Portsmouth City Council is working with Queen Alexandra Hospital on a new initiative to offer health information and advice at local libraries across the city. The Information for Health Enquiry Service team will recommend books and reputable websites that can help people manage and understand their health conditions. They can also let people know about the latest research on their condition through the partnership with librarians working at the hospital. The service also works closely with the Community Connectors who can support people to integrate into their local community and find groups and activities that could help improve their wellbeing. Following news reports that patients of the Dentists at the John Pounds Centre have been told that the dental surgery is to close we contacted NHS England to raise the concerns and find out the reason for the surgery closure. NHS England released a statement NHS England recently received termination notices from three Colosseum practices in Portsmouth which means the practices will be closed as of 1st August 2019.
