Update from Portsmouth City Council 29 March 2019 Regrettably Healthwatch Portsmouth is currently unavailable following the liquidation of hosting organisation Learning Links (Southern). Portsmouth City Council is looking at continued provision of Healthwatch as a priority. Report of third walkthrough at Queen Alexandra Hospital ugent care department

The report of our third walkthrough of the Queen Alexandra Hospital urgent care department has been published and is now available on our publications page.  The walk through was conducted as part of our enter and view activities to gain an idea of a typical patient experience. The report contains the impressions of Healthwatch Portsmouth volunteers on how the department was coping with general urgent care admissions as well as recommendations for improvements.

Gunwharf Quays shops to mark world autism week with autism friendly shopping

Portsmouth's Gun Wharf Quays shopping centre is to mark world autism week 1 - 7 April 2019 with autism friendly  'autism hours'  everyday. On Monday 1 April to Friday 5 April at 4 - 5pm, Saturday 5 April 9-10am and Sunday 6 April 2019 10-11am shops in the centre will be dimming their lights and turning off music to make the shops friendlier for autistic people. CQC publishes profile of older people’s services in Portsmouth

The Care Quality Commission has published a profile of older people's services in Portsmouth. The profile is based on data held by the CQC at the end of September 2018 and compares Portsmouth’s position against the England averages and a group of 15 comparators; towns found to be most similar to Portsmouth in terms of demographics. Healthwatch Portsmouth Board meeting 3 April 2019

Review of Think Autism strategy launched

The Government has launched a review of its national adult autism strategy Think Autism. Think Autism is a cross-government strategy, launched in April 2014, which set out the steps that the Department of Health, local councils and other bodies would take to improve the quality of life for autistic adults and ensure that services met their needs. Now the Government is reviewing the effectiveness of the strategy and the progress that has been made as well as asking for ideas for new action to be taken.
